Detail
Prior to 1900, Nebraska's football teams tried out nicknames like the Old Gold Knights and Rattlesnakes, until the nickname 'Bugeaters,' referring to bull bats that feasted on bugs in cornfields, stuck in the late 1890s. In 1900, after famed sportswriter Cy Sherman began referring to Nebraska as the Cornhuskers. He noticed that Iowa didn't use their 'Cornhuskers' nickname, and found it more fitting for Nebraska instead. This original, retro-inspired design is our take on Cornhusker pride. Shuck 'em!
