Detail
In 1907, Thomas I. Gasson, the 13th president of Boston College, decided that the school had outgrown its cramped campus in Boston’s South End and purchased the Lawrence farm six miles west of the city. He set about creating a master plan for a “new” university on Chestnut Hill with Gasson Hall as its centerpiece. It has remained one of the most well known buildings on BC’s campus and has influenced collegiate Gothic architecture in North America.
